App reporting field note

A practical KPI dictionary for app teams

Shared definitions reduce debate, prevent quiet drift and make recurring leadership reporting more trustworthy.

When finance, product and marketing use the same KPI name differently, meetings become definition disputes. A compact KPI dictionary creates a shared reference.

For each indicator, record its business purpose, exact calculation, source, exclusions, reporting frequency, owner and known limitations. Include examples for definitions that are easy to misread.

Version important changes. If an activation event changes after an app release, record the effective date and explain how comparisons are affected.

Ownership matters as much as wording. One named person should confirm that each critical definition still matches the implementation and business question.
